Tips: TheLow-pressure service port is not positioned on the same line in every vehicle. In many vehicles, you will find a Low-pressure service port directly on the A/C compressor. So, check that in your own car.

Get The Manifold Gauges Ready

Connect the gauges on the manifold. Before attaching them to your car, double-check that they are shut. Take note of the high and low-pressure sides under the hood of your car as you do this. Between the condenser and the expansion valve/orifice tube lies the high-pressure port.

The return line between the compressor and the evaporator/firewall has a low-pressure port. Connect the red manifold connector to the high-pressure side and the blue manifold connector to the low-pressure side.

How Do You Remove Refrigerants Without A Machine

The process of removing refrigerants without a machine is commonly referred to as discharging. Discharging can be accomplished in a few different ways, but the most common method is by using a set of manifold gauges.

Manifold gauges are comprised of 3 hoses:

  • Middle pressure

Each hose has its gauge, which will give you a reading of the corresponding pressures within your AC system.

To properly discharge your AC system, you will need to connect the yellow hose to the high-pressure side service port and open up the valve. Next, connect the blue hose to the low-pressure side service port and open up that valve as well.

How to evacuate and “pull” vacuum on an R134a car AC system

Slowly start opening the blue-colored valve on the recovery tank and keep an eye out for leaks. Then, open the blue liquid valve on the manifold gauges to remove liquid from the AC system.
