With The Introduction Of The 964 The Porsche

In 1988, the first completely redesigned Porsche 911 was presented. Internally, it was called the 964 and marked a significant change in the Porsche-Code as well. From then on, Porsche used their own code a bit more liberally. Following the 964, in 1993 the last aircooled Porsche saw the light of the day the Porsche 993. In the transaxle department, the 968 joined the party.

In the mid-90s, the very first Porsche Boxster was introduced. Its internal code? 986. Shortly afterwards, the first watercooled 911 entered the competition and was called 996. The following 911s were called 997 and 991, with the most recent model being called 992. So the tradition of the three-digit numbers is continued, even though not as stringent as 60 years ago. Today, only Porsches sports cars wear numbers as model names. All four-door models wear real names.

In order to meet this credo, when changing the Boxster/Cayman platform from six- to four-cylinder engines, Porsche used the name 718 again. This number was used for a very successful hillclimb racer, called 718K, back in the days. The four-door cars wear names like Panamera, Macan, Taycan and so on. In 2020, there are three different sports cars in Porsches range: The 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman and the Porsche 911, with its internal code 992.

Renault Megane Rs 275 Trophy

Dreaming Of An Everyday Supercar.Audi RS Models

Supposedly one of the greatest front-wheel drive chassis ever, the 275 Trophy has become the heartthrob of many trackday-goers since its launch in 2015. Carrying on Renaults penchant for producing hot hatches that can punch well above their own weight, the 275 has taken on many supercars in Car of the Year tests and in certain climates and road layouts has come out the victor.

Using a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four with 271bhp, the Megane can get from 0-60mph in 6.0 seconds, with a beautifully engineering LSD included in the mix to set the Trophy apart from its other FWD rivals. This Renault even held the FWD Nürburgring record at 7 minutes 54 seconds but has now been superseded by the current crop of hyper hatches packing considerably more power. CT Editor Matt Robinson put the Megane up against the Subaru WRX STI, with the French car only losing out due to its track-based suspension that was just too extreme for the road. Despite this, the Megane held up dynamically to one of the most-coveted Japanese icons in the automotive world.

There are numerous other RS cars out there, with a multitude coming from Audi like its recent super-killing TT RS which has made loyal R8 buyers think twice.

Whats The Difference Between Evo Mr And Gsr

Perhaps the only differences between the GSR and the MR, are some exterior features, and a few interior features. As mentioned earlier, the MR comes in models which have a 6-speed transmission, while the GSR has only five speeds. The MR also has some luxury features like optional leather seats. What is this?

Is the Evo MR faster than the GSR?

MRs transmission also allows the vehicle to shift so fast it doesnt loose boost, so it will outperform the GSR in a straight line.

A Visual History Of Audis High

From a Porsche-fettled wagon all the way through to todays twin-turbocharged, ultra-quick Audis, this is every notable Audi Sport model.

Audi Sport is to Audi what M is to BMW or AMG to Mercedes-Benz. Audi Sports crown jewel is the mid-engine R8, but its history began with the RS2 Avant Quattro, a derivative of the Audi 80 B4 that was co-developed with Porsche and features the brands iconic five-cylinder engine.

We take a comprehensive look at every Audi RS model past and present. Almost all of them are offered in the U.S., the brands most important market. Here they are, presented in the order in which they were introduced.

The RS2s success proves encouraging, so Audi creates a follow-up, the RS4 Avant. The recipe is epic: Take the B5-generation Audi A4 wagon and install a 375-hp twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 messed with by Cosworth Technology. A six-speed manual transmission handles shifting duties, and power is sent to all four wheels. The first RS4 is available only as a station wagon, and as youve probably already guessed, it isnt offered in America, although we do review one in Europe in 2000.

The Avant tradition continues with the B7-generation RS4 Avant, which has the same naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission seen in the sedan and convertible models. Like the previous-generation RS4, the Avant remains a Europe-only model.

Chevrolet Camaro Rs Lt

330bhp from a 3.6-litre V6 gives this $35,000 slice of Murica genuine sports car credentials. Managing the sprint to 60mph in 5.1 seconds, the LT also utilises a much lighter front end than its V8 SS cousin, making its back-road abilities a little more European than people assume.

With a six-speed manual transmission and some all-aluminium suspension components, this Camaro has put many V6 Mustangs to the sword and in most road tests has come out the victor. Although the RS side of the car is merely a trim package to hark back to Camaros of old, the LT is still a performance bargain thats not to be sniffed at.

What Does Rs Mean On A Camaro

What is RS485 and How it’s used in Industrial Control Systems?

Weve seen a few people asking what RS means on Camaros specifically.

As you might be aware, Chevrolet and Camaros dont exactly have a great rally reputation or heritage, at least in terms of off road rallying as we think of it in Europe and Australasia.

However, starting with the first generation Camaro there have been various Rally Sport models, such as this beauty:

It could be that Rally Sport in the Camaro context refers to the more American usage of the term rally, which can mean vehicle meet ups that involve parades, car showing, drag races etc.

If you have more insight into why Chevrolet started using the term Rally Sport for the Camaro back in the 1960s then we would love to hear from you!

What Does Rs Mean For Porsche

If RS stands for Rally Sport, then what on earth are RS badges doing adorning some of Porsches most successful and desirable vehicles?

Although Porsche has actually had some experience over the years with rallying Porsches RS badge actually means something different.

As we mentioned earlier, some manufacturers use the RS term to denote Racing Sport or something similar.

On Porsche cars, RS stands for Rennsport, which is German for racing/motor racing.

Therefore, RS Porsches are generally the race reps of any given Porsche model.

Porsche has done quite well in recent years with rallying the GT3 RS, however. So maybe there is an element of Rally Sport in there as well!

Differences Between Audi Rs And Non

Differences between Audi RS and non-Audi RS vehicles

Lets start off with a few basic facts. The Audi S/RS range are high-performance versions of the standard cars just like BMW M and Mercedes AMG, the first S model was the 1990 Audi s2 coupe and four years later the RS2 Avant came along as the first RS. One of the key biggest differences between Non-RS/S and RS/S cars is the fact that all S and RS models have equipped with Quattro all-wheel drive as standard for improved grip and acceleration. The only Non-RS/S production cars youll see that on is the Q7 and the R8. At HJ Pfaff Audi, we have a massive selection of Audi RS and S models that are waiting for you to take out for a test drive. However, in this blog, we are not talking about the features of one of these vehicles, but instead, we will be talking about some of the differences between an Audi RS and a non-RS Audi vehicle.

    Audi S Vehicles

When some see a regular model with the S line package that adds sportier styling, some will think its an s. But theres a much bigger difference than the styling, all S models are equipped with Quattro All-Wheel drive, more powerful engines, stronger brakes, stiffer suspension systems, sportier styling, and a carbon interior trim. S stands for sport, it can be tricky when you see a regular model with the S line package that features leather/Alcantara, S line badging, etc. S models are the competitors to BMW 35i/40i versions and Mercedes 400, 500, etc.

RSMeans Data Online: How to Create Your First Estimate

In short, The RS badge was first introduced in the Chevy Camaro as an appearance package and means Rally Sport. In other Chevy models, it appears as either an appearance package, performance package, or trim meaning that there is no consistency in how it is applied across the board.

As you can see by the above summary, there is a serious lack of consistency when it comes to what RS stands for. The natural position would probably use the original intent behind the tag which is an appearance package but then again, it tends to just confuse people who want something else other than the Camaro.

If you appreciate the finer things in life, though, and you dont mind paying just a little bit more, it might be worth it to upgrade to the LT trim level. Does Rs Offer Sports Performance

As far as engine performance and power is concerned, there really isnt anything that makes the RS stand out regardless of the model you end up choosing. If you are going for performance, the SS trim within some Chevy models such as the Camaro would be your best bet. For now and for the foreseeable future, the RS badge will only be for the appearance option and mostly base-level trims.
