How Much Is The Congestion Charge
As of April 2019, electric vehicles are eligible for an exemption form both the London Congestion Charge and the;Ultra Low Emission Zone charge.
In order to qualify for these exemptions, drivers will need to register their electric vehicle with Transport for London at a cost of £10, which needs to be renewed each year.
The Congestion Charge zone;runs every day, between 07:00-22:00 . Unregistered vehicles;will need to pay £15 each day you drive within the boundary.;

Petrol prices are all over the place at the moment. One minute they’re at record lows, the next they’re creeping back up to the same old prices that we’ve been accustomed to accept. Of course it all depends on the efficiency of the electric car and its conventionally powered equivalent or rival.
Petrol and diesel-powered cars are rated by how many litres of fuel they use per 100km . With electric vehicles its how many kilowatt hours used per 100km. The lower the kWh/100km value, the less youll need to spend on household power to travel a given distance. With power also being priced per kWh, figuring out how much an electric cars energy will cost is as simple as checking your electricity rate.
For example, the Nissan Leaf;consumes 10kWh/100km. If youre paying 0.28c per kWh it will cost you $2.80 to charge it enough to travel 100km. The Leaf has a claimed 400km range, which means a full charge will cost you $11.20 .
The Jaguar I-Pace on the other hand is rated at 19kWh/100km, which means it costs $5.32 for a 100km trip and $25.53 for a full charge to travel its claimed 480km range.
Kilowatt Per Hour Vs Miles Per Gallon

As you well know, fuel economy in a gas-powered vehicle is measured in miles per gallon . With an electric vehicle, its kilowatt-hours per 100 miles.
A kilowatt is 1,000 watts of electric power. If you use a 1,000-watt motor for one hour, youve used 1 kilowatt.
Heres how the U.S. Department of Energy illustrates the cost of a kilowatt hour as it relates to an EV:
If electricity costs $0.11 per kWh and the vehicle consumes 34 kWh to travel 100 miles, the cost per mile is about $0.04.
If electricity costs $0.11 per kilowatt-hour, charging an all-electric vehicle with a 70-mile range will cost about $2.64 to reach a full charge. This cost is about the same as operating an average central air conditioner for about six hours.

Cost Of Charging Electric Cars At Public Stations
If you are a Tesla owner, then the;Tesla Supercharger Network;has points across the UK which are often free to use for older vehicles. Newer Tesla owners, who bought their vehicle after January 1st 2017, may only receive a set number of free hours of charge.;According to Tesla, where possible, Tesla owners are billed at 26p per kWh . In other areas, they bill per minute. When billing per minute, there are two tiers to account for changes in charging speeds, called tier 1 and tier 2. Tier 1 is 60 kW and below and tier 2 is 60 kW and above. Tesla advise that tier 1 is half the cost of tier 2.;
Certain Model S and X vehicles ordered before November 2, 2018 receive 400 kWh of Supercharger credits annually. Please consult the manufacturer if you are in doubt.

Most likely, you pay for electricity based on how many kWh you use each month. Examine your electricity bill, and you can find the cost per kWh. The national average is around $0.13/kWh. If you charge an electric vehicle at home, calculating the cost of a single charge means multiplying the number of kWh used to charge the battery by the cost per kWh. So if an EV owner charges the battery with 25 kWh and pays $.10/kWh for electricity, the owner will pay $2.50 to charge the battery.;
How Much Do Charging Stations Cost

Other options include pay as you go and a monthly subscription. While many drivers dont want to pay monthly, you can still pay as you go. My EV has all of the pricing information.
Monthly rates for some stations are $4 to $7.99 a month. Electrify America offers a discount for Pass+ members. A $4 monthly fee gets you the discounted rate of $0.31/kWh.
Guest and regular members will pay $.43/kWh. Electrify America charges an idle fee of $0.40 if your car remains plugged in for more than 10 minutes after it is fully charged.
EVgo charges $0.35 a minute for fast charging with no fee or commitment. For those who want to pay $7.99 a month, you only pay $0.31 a minute. No idle fees apply.
ChargePoint is a brand found at retail locations for the most part. While some companies or locations absorb the cost, ChargePoint will charge $10 to your card at signup if it isnt free. This replenishes every time you get below $5.
Tesla also has Tesla-brand charging stations, but the costs vary widely based on location. With any of these, your mileage may vary .
