It All Started With A Tricycle

The production of Mazda did, in factm originate in Japan. The first vehicle manufactured by the company was a tricycle. Not just any tricycle. A tricycle truck called the Mazda-go, according to Mazda. Back then this Japanese car company went by the nomer Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. The first vehicle the company every produced was this interesting truck trike. The second president and substantial founder of Toyo Kogyo, Jujiro Matsuda, considered the name with a few other co-workers.

Matsuda is actually how they say Mazda in Japan, according to the above video. As the man who ran the Japanese car company at the time, it seemed more than fitting to use the name for the first outgoing production vehicle. The Mazda-go tricycle paved the way for what was to come of Mazda.

Our Take On Mazda Us Sales Figures

Despite a very positively-received range of mainstream cars and SUVs with a sporty bend Mazda has been struggling to break out of the 200-300k mark per year , though it finally managed that in 2014, 2015 and 2018 before dropping below 300k again in 2019.

The big reason for this fluctuating sales is because Mazdas mainstream models have failed to connect to the buyers in the US. For instance, the Mazda3 and the Mazda6, were both performing really well sales-wise but their sales dropped to 50% in 2019. We like to see Mazda to recover its loses in 2019 as their niche cars such as the MX-5 Miata and in the past the RX-8 still has a cult following in the US which makes sure that the brand will not continue dropping their sales for the next couple of years.

The pandemic crushed new-vehicle sales last year in the United States, with behemoths like Ford Motor, General Motors and Honda all posting double-digit sales declines. Altogether, the sales slide reached 15 percent, with under 14.5 million new cars hitting American roads, down from a five-year average of around 17 million.

But Mazda the 13th-ranked carmaker in America was one of just three to increase sales last year.

Every one of its new models that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tested was a Top Safety Pick, more than any other brand. It ranked No. 1 in a Consumer Reports survey on the most reliable new vehicles. And then this year, Mazda received the top spot in that magazines coveted Brand Report Card, based on a combined score that measures road-test performance, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction and safety.

And driving was the next-best thing. Mazdas have this image of being an escape, Mr. Edwards added.

With all of the rules being rewritten, they were able to pick up additional people that were reconsidering what vehicles they were going to consider, Mr. Edwards said.

How Can You Check Where A Specific Cx

You can check the exact location of where your CX-5 was built by using the VIN number.

The VIN number of your CX-5 can be found on a plate in the left-hand side of the dashboard.

You can see the VIN number more clearly by looking from the outside through the windshield.

Once you have found the VIN number you can use an online VIN decoder, which will give you all the information regarding your CX-5.

You can also decode your VIN manually.

The first letter or number of the VIN will tell you the production location.

For example, if the first character is J, this means your car was made in Japan.

The 11th digit indicates which manufacturing plant your vehicle was assembled at.

For example, if the digit is a 00, then the car was built at the Hiroshima Plant.

A Story Behind The Name Of Mazda

Ever wondered how a Japanese car company that Celebrates Driving got its name?

The name Mazda was introduced to Japan in October 1931. Mazda started its life as a cork manufacturer back in 1920. The year 1931 was when Mazda, then called the Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd., launched the Mazda-go, a tricycle truck which is a first vehicle coming out of the company. The naming of the tricycle was considered by Jujiro Matsuda, the second president and substantial founder of Toyo Kogyo, and other key members.

    Mazda-go

Made by a company that was then managed by a man named Matsuda, the name Mazda-go sounds fitting enough. The question is, how come it was spelt Mazda instead of Matsuda? Mazda comes from Ahura Mazda, the god of harmony, intelligence and wisdom from the earliest civilization in West Asia. Key members of Toyo Kogyo interpreted Mazda as a symbol of the beginning of the East and the West civilization, but also a symbol of the automotive civilization and culture. Striving to make a contribution to the world peace and to be a light in the automotive industry, Toyo Kogyo was renamed Mazda Motor Corporation. Mazda was also a perfect way to pay respect to the substantial founder, whose family name is pronounced very close to Mazda.
