Whats The Best DRIFT CAR!?!?!?!

SSC Ultimate Aero TT Courtesy of Wikipedia.

SSC North Americas 2007 Ultimate Aero TT has a Guinness Book of Recordsverified top speed of 256.18 mph. That record has since been broken by others, and now belongs to its successor, the SSC Tuatara. But that doesnt take anything away from this fully carbon-fiber behemoth. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged Corvette C5R V-8 thats tuned to produce more than 1,100 hp and 1,094 ft lbs of torque. The rip to 60 mph is 2.7 seconds, and the task of stopping the land missile is aided by twin air brakes that pop up from the rear wings. SE

Steve Saleen set out to build a Bugatti Veyron challenger, and this street-legal race car was the result. One of the first American mid-engined performance machines ever crafted, the Saleen S7 was 100 percent hand-built. A heavily-tweaked 7.0-liter twin-turbo Ford 351 Windsor Small Block gets bored and stroked, bestowing the handsome coupe with 750 hp. SE

Hennessey Performance Engineerings Venom F5 picks up the baton from its older sibling and rockets away. A 6.6-liter twin-turbo V-8 pumps out 1,817 hp and 1,193 ft lbs of twist, which propels the 2,950-pound coupe to 60 mph in under two seconds. And in case you were wondering, its name is an homage to the F5 category of tornados, the most intense level possible on the Fujita scale. SE

The successor to the game-changing Zonda, the Huayra comes from Italian speed master Horacio Pagani and is named after Huayra-tata, a Quechua wind god. Fitting, considering the 720 hp coming from a twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V-12. A seven-speed single-clutch gearbox puts down the power while delivering chunky, whiplash-inducing shifts, allowing you to scream from zero to 60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds. SE

Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero

What is your most fun to ride car? Not necessarily fastest. Mine is S95 ...

The 90s-tastic SSC is made almost entirely out of carbonfibre, and it has its own party piece – twin pop-up air brakes that emerge from the top of the rear wings. Something we enjoyed very much when we drove one in the USA alongside an older Hennessey Venom.

Something we enjoyed rather a lot less was the oh-god-make-it-stop speed. 0-60mph in 2.78 seconds. And a top speed of 256.18mph, as verified by the Guinness Book of Records. Though subsequently beaten, it still remains stupendously quick.

Present Bugatti Chiron: 261 Mph

Output: 1,479 hp

Did you think Bugatti would just let its speed record go? Not a chance. The Veyron’s successor, the regular Chironas if anything about Bugatti could be considered regularcomes in at an electronically limited 261 mph. The German-owned, France-based automaker isn’t saying what speed an uncorked, non-SS Chiron is capable of, but considering there’s a cool 1,479 hp on tap from that quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16, our bet is above the 275-mph mark. Pony up $3 million and find out for us, will ya?

Worlds Fastest Cars: A History

The worlds first recognised car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen built in 1898, opens our list with a top speed of 12mph. Little more than half a century later, in 1949, Jaguar had raised these stakes by a factor of ten, with the Jaguar XK120.

The fifties were a hard-fought battle between Mercedes 300SL Gullwing and the Aston Martin DB4 GT, both of which were capable of speeds in excess of 150mph. The sixties followed, and with them a flurry of title changes between a range of Italian marques. The Iso Grifo set the tone in 1963, with a 161mph top speed.

A newcomer, the Anglo-American-built AC Cobra briefly stole the crown in 1965, only to be subsequently beaten by the Lamborghini Miura, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 and the Miura P400S between 1967 and 1969.

Thirteen years passed before Lamborghini managed to top its own record with the Countach, marking the first production car to pass the 180mph barrier. In 1983, German Porsche tuner RUF offered the 190mph BTR, while Porsches own supercar, the 959, hit 198mph in 1986.

Ferrari built the worlds first production car to pass the 200mph barrier in 1987, with the 472bhp F40. Once the nineties rolled around, the McLaren F1 upped the stakes again with a top speed of 221mph, although F1s without rev-limiters have clocked 240mph runs. To this day, the McLaren F1 remains the fastest naturally aspirated car ever built.

The 2020 Aston Martin Superleggera is powered by a 715- horsepower twin-turbo engine. Its 5.2-liter V12 makes the kind of glorious exhaust note one expects from Englands premier supercar brand. After clearing 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and the quarter-mile in 11 seconds flat, this proper British sports car can hit a very improper 211 mph top speed.

/19 Koenigsegg One: 1

  • Price: 2,800,000 CR

The Swedish hypercar manufacturer debuts on the list with the Koenigsegg One: 1 . What sets this ‘megacar’ apart is its incredible power-to-weight ratio, owing to its 1360 bhp and 1360 kg weight.

Designed to be its top model in Koenigsegg’s Agera line, the One:1 also has one of the highest cornering forces among any car in the game. Able to go from 0 to 100 mph in just 4.5 seconds, it can reach speeds of up to 273 mph. The One: 1’s 10-speed rating reflects its power, while its 9.5 handling makes the car quite easy to control .

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut: 330 Mph

Just when you thought the Jesko was the ultimate machine from the Swedish automaker, it decided to come up with a hyper version of the supercar with the Absolut suffix. The Jesko Absolut was revealed in 2020 and the company worked on its aerodynamics and high-speed road behavior to make it unbelievably fast. It boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.278, courtesy of changes like an extended rear hood, covered rear wheels, and a lowered suspension. It misses out on front-wheel louvers and the massive rear wings, whereas the front hood air ducts are also closed. The 1,600-horsepower, $2.8 million Absolut Jesko has a top speed of 330 mph. But but but, it must be noted that this is a theoretical top speed and the car hasnt achieved it in reality yet. We could probably see it out in the open soon since the first model came out of the oven in May 2022. All said, we will definitely be disappointed if this turns out to be another Tuatara kind of a fiasco. But, for now, well take Koenigseggs word for it and give it the crown for being the fastest car in the world.

Rockstar Created Stunt Tracks

In this kind of situation a good balance between lap time and top speed is essential, since most Rockstar stunt races are frankly not that challenging from a cornering perspective. However they do still require a car to be able to take corners at high speed when it isnt focusing on utilising its top speed 90-95% of the time. The Deveste Eight fits the bill perfectly here by having a top speed good enough to get into our top 5 list, while also having a lap time thats just outside of the top 10 for the Supers class. The HSW Deveste Eight is naturally an excellent option here for those on the new gen versions of the game.

How Top Speed Is Calculated

Considering how coveted the Fastest Car in the World title is, its no surprise theres a pretty rigorous process involved to get that title, at least if you want to be official. The de facto list is from Guinness World Records, which has some specific requirements in place to be considered.

First, the test needs to be witnessed by an independent third party. Next, the car makes its first run at whatever location is chosen for the test. Preferably somewhere with a long, flat road, such as VWs private Ehra-Lessien test track in Northern Germany. This track has an uninterrupted straight for 5.6 miles, which is so long you cant see the other end due to the curvature of the Earth!

Then, the car makes another top speed run in the opposite direction, because there may be some differences in weather, elevation, or other factors that could alter the measurements in one direction or the other. The average of the two runs is used. For example, if a car hits 220.7 mph in one direction and 219.1 mph in the other, the top speed recorded is 219.9.

  • Price: 1,200,000 CR

The 2012 Hennessey Venom GT is a marvel of engineering, cranking up to 1200 bhp while weighing less than 2,700 pounds. Modified from the Lotus Elise, the Venom GT packs a Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine and can shoot from 0 to 200 mph in 15.3 seconds, an astonishing feat. Its body is almost entirely carbon fiber which adds to its stellar 9.8-speed rating, although the car’s acceleration has a disappointing 6.8 score.

The Hennessey Venom GT has a top speed of 270 mph, ranking it among the fastest of the fastest cars in the game.

Koenigsegg Agera R: 260 Mph

The Agera RS may be the fastest of its kind, but the Agera R isn’t far behind. Produced from 2011 to 2014, the Agera R featured the company’s legendary 5.0-liter V-8 engine, capable of up to 1,124 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque. The Swedish firm used this car to set a handful of records for production cars in 2011, but these were eventually reset by the Agera RS. Although it didn’t set a record for top speed, the Agera R was nearly as fast as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport at 260 mph. This benchmark places it in fifth place on our list and makes it the second Koenigsegg to make our top 10.

Hennessey Venom GT: 270.49mph

In February 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT reached a speed of 270.49mph which unofficially broke the world record for the fastest car in the world. Allegedly, the car couldnt be tested in both directions due to organizational difficulties and therefore the record remains unofficial. However, the car currently holds the world record for the fastest production car and there is no doubt that this machine is a real super car. The Hennessey Venom GT has a V8 twin turbo engine and costs around $1.2 million. In December last year, the UK manufacturer announced that 11 of the proposed 29 Hennessey cars were already sold.

John Hennesseys eponymously-named performance group is obsessed with power and speed, evidenced by shoehorning as much oomph as it can into production cars from other manufacturers. Then Hennessey built his own supercar in 2014, powered by a 7.0-liter twin-turbo GM V-8 packing 1,244 hp and 1,287 ft lbs of torque. The Venom reached 270.4 mph at the Kennedy Space Centers 3.2-mile landing strip, but only in one direction. Since both directions are required for a record-holding run, in addition to a production volume of 30 or more cars , the Hennessey doesnt qualify for official record books. But still, the beast has surpassed 270 mph, and thats impressive as hell. SE
