So How Long Does Wax Last

How long do they last? I find that bars, scent paks and ...

This is the question that we get asked the most. People want to know as it is going to influence them on how much product they buy and how much they want to have in storage.

The main problem with this question is there is no direct answer because there are so many variables in place that influence how long wax lasts.

Typically, wax has been built to last 3 to 6 months, which is all dependent on the quality of your car to begin with and where and how you are driving it.

If you park in the sun all day long, the wax is not going to last as long; if it is in shade, it will last longer. Do you park it in an industrial area which emits a lot chemicals into the atmosphere?

Do you drive it along dirt roads, or on paved roads or on gravel? What have you been using to wash the car? What kind of exterior paint does the car have? These are all variables that are going to affect how long the wax lasts.

The most popular highlight of car waxes is that they make cars appear shinier. While this is true, a common misconception is that car wax in itself is a shiny product. It has a mirror-like impression after application that gives the bodywork a factory-like luster.

Furthermore, by filling in scratches and swirls, it is able to restore a somewhat perfect aesthetic. Due to the protection, it offers against the harmful effect of UV rays, car wax ensures that your paint job remains in prime condition for a longer period.

After all, the car wash shampoos claim to not remove wax.And I don’t think you want to use Vim.3. After the car has been waxed, what do you do the next day when there’s a fine layer of dust on it? View My Garage I wax my car every month. I use either Turtle or Formula 1and I do not remove the previous layer. I park my car in the open so with time and regular washing the layer of wax gradually disappears. Every month I throughly wash the car with Sonax car wash and apply the wax . Also i do not recommend to wipe the fine layer of dust cos this causes fine scratches so I wash the car with water. Some people recommend the use of fine brushes/dusters.

Once in 6 months should do. Important to remember that there is some after wax care that should be taken to keep the gleam, else you might start waxing every week.

Benefits Of Carnauba Wax

There are quite a few benefits to using a carnauba wax on a vehicles exterior, with enhanced shine being one of the most notable.

Due to its resiliency, carnauba wax is able to retain a relatively high;melting point;of 85° C or 185° F. This resistance to heat has allowed the ambidextrous plant-derived product to find its way into many of the products we use every day, including medicine, oral hygiene items, confectionaries, and you guessed it car detailing products.

When applied to a vehicles exterior and allowed to harden, carnauba wax creates a razor-thin protective shell that resists heat, repels moisture, and rejects many kinds of contaminants.

In automotive applications, carnauba wax typically comes in either one of two forms:

  • A yellow grade, which is typically the purest product, and is therefore far more expensive.
  • A white kind, which is cut with a slew of man-made synthetic ingredients and various other waxes in order to make a less expensive final product.

Hard to say how long it will last. There are a few variables. What you are beating the paint up with. I’m up in Central NY and they use salt and sand on the roads up here. I drive 350-400 miles per week. Regardless of what I use, it won’t last on my paint as long as it will yours. During the winter, I use Collinite 476. Seems to last the longest of what I have used, based on the conditions in which is use them. If I get a day above freezing, I’m washing and reapplying when I can. Gets me through. Is it spring YET?!

Graphene in car detailing products are available as a coating or wax. A coating is harder to apply but can last longer. Coatings also cost a lot more. I prefer this wax form due to its ease of application.

Graphene simply makes the product stronger and lasts longer. It also reduces water spotting as it disperses heat from your paint.

Liquid and paste waxes are the best options as far as longevity goes. You only need to apply them every four months or so. Spray waxes are another story.
