Find The Manufacturer And Model Number

Need a New Car Battery? How to Choose the Right Type

If, for some reason, you need to know exactly what model video card you have, you’ll have to do a bit more work. The manufacturer is easy enough to find with a third-party app called Speccy. Download the free version, start it up, and click the Graphics option in the sidebar. Scroll down and look for the Subvendor entry, which should tell you who made the actual card in your PCin my case, Asus made this particular RX 580.

Unfortunately, this won’t tell you the exact model number, which you’ll need for, say, warranty claims. For that, you’ll need to either search your email for the receipt or open your PC up.

In this case, find the graphics card, remove it, and look at the sticker on the sideit should have the model number you need. You may want to write this information down somewhere so you don’t need to crack your PC open next timeyou never know when you might need it!

Looking At The Sound Card

Another method of determining the sound card manufacturer or model is by opening your computer case and physically examining the sound card. Commonly, the sound card manufacturers name and model number is printed on the card itself. If the information you need is not printed on the card, you may use an FCC identification number to search its specifications.

How To Find Out What Kind Of Engine You Have

If you do not know what type of engine is equipped with your vehicle, you’re missing a potentially vital piece of information. For example, whenever you purchase parts, your task is made much easier by being able to present all of the vehicle’s attributes. Thankfully, you can find this information on your own in a short time. All you need is the Vehicle Identification Number and a computer with Internet access. Of particular interest, are the fourth-through-eighth digits in your VIN, as these identify the specific attributes of your vehicle, including engine type.

Step 1

Locate the VIN on your vehicle. Vehicle identification numbers are usually stamped on the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side. You can also find the VIN on the door frame of the driver’s side door. Some vehicles will also have their VIN stamped on a metal plate under the hood, near the engine compartment.

Step 2

Write the entire VIN down, ensuring that you copy it exactly as it appears. Double-check for errors, as even one incorrect digit will make it impossible to discern your engine type.

Step 3

Go to “www.decodethis.com” and enter your entire VIN in space provided at the top of the page. Then press “Decode.” Depending on your vehicle, the next screen may ask you to choose which trim most closely matches your vehicle. Choose the option that matches your vehicle and click “Select Trim.” A new page will load.

Decide If You Want To Lease Or Buy

Leasing and buying each have pros and cons, and how you feel about these may help guide your decision on which route to take.

For example, a lease requires little or no money down and offers lower monthly payments. But when the lease ends, you have no car and will need to go shopping again. On the other hand, buying a car is more expensive initially, and the monthly payments are higher. But when you pay off the loan, you will own a car that you can drive for as long as it runs.

What Is Car Trim

When discussing the make and model of a vehicle, the car’s trim is also important. Trim refers to a specific configuration of a vehicle model, usually differing in features, materials, and engine size. If you refer to a manufacturer’s guide or even a specific vehicle’s website, you’ll learn more about a specific model’s different trim levels.

A Nissan Altima might have as many as six different trim levels between the Nissan Altima S, the Altima SV, the Altima SR, the Altima SR VC-Turbo, the Altima SL, or the Altima Platinum. Think of a trim as a further categorization of a vehicle.

Differences Between Car Makes Of The Same Manufacturer

[OT] What kind of car do you have?

Manufacturers can have several distinct makes â or brands â of vehicles that they produce. The Toyota Motor Corp., for instance, has had several different car brands, including Toyota, Scion and Lexus.

When you are asked the make of your car, you should provide the car’s brand name.

So even though your Scion might be manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corp., it would be inaccurate to say that its make is Toyota.

Car companies sometimes have different brands because they have bought or merged with other auto manufacturers. For example, General Motors Corp. has, over the years, acquired Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac. These were all at one point stand-alone car manufacturers.

Manufacturers also might create separate brands to target different markets. For example, the Toyota Motor Corp. created Lexus to focus on the luxury car market.

The Four Steps Of The Internal Combustion Engine:

  • Piston is pulled into the cylinder at the same time, the engine valve pushes the air and fuel mixture into the engines cylinder.
  • Next, the valve closes, and the piston returns to the original resting position. The movement of the piston compresses the air and fuel mixture, getting it ready for combustion.
  • Once the pistons movement is complete, the spark plug ignites and creates a hot gas force. This creation of gas moves the piston back down, turning the engine crankshaft.
  • Finally, the crankshafts force creates a continuously-turning motion and moves the piston back to the starting position.
