What If The Oil Level Is Too High

Too much oil is a bad thing. The spinning crankshaft and churning engine parts whip air into the oil, which can cause foam. The tiny bubbles travel between moving parts, where they rupture. When they do, nothing is left to protect metal surfaces from wear. Foam also increases heat, which causes the oil to chemically breakdown sooner.
If the crankcase is overfull, drain the excess oil until reaching the correct level.
Increased oil level can also be due to fuel dilution. This is when fuel enters the crankcase and contaminates the oil. In severe cases, enough fuel can enter the crankcase to noticeably increase the oil level. This is bad. Very bad. Fuel dilution leads to sludge, varnish and engine wear.

Fill Up Your Oil Using The Funnel

Then, position your funnel at the top of the spout and pour your oil in. Make sure that you are using the correct oil for your car.
To get an idea of how much oil you need; the gap between the marks on the dipstick usually represents around 1 litre of oil, so you know that if your oil mark was at the minimum, you need around a litre to top it up. If its only halfway down, you probably need around half a litre.

In my past experiences of oil in the engine, I didnt have too much oil in the engine. If anything ever happened, you could probably get a little leak in the back or front seal but after a while, it would probably just stop after some time or you may just never have anything come about at all. So why do I say this? You are only paying for it and causing an accident if you dont change your oil as often as you should.
If youre reading this article, it is likely that you have engine problems. For example, maybe your crankshaft is cracked or maybe your oil level is way too low. These are all things that can cause some serious engine damage if you dont change them as needed.
First, lets talk about your crankshaft. This is what causes most of the oil to leak from your engine. The crankcase is actually designed to allow oil to flow into the engine. Problems arise when there is too much oil in the crankcase, and the oil pan or stems become clogged. It is recommended that you change your oil pan or valve every thousand miles or so.
Next up is the oil pan gasket. You are only responsible for the oil pan gasket leaking if it is not changed as necessary. Although oil leaks in the crankcase gasket may not be common, they do happen. A broken drain line is often what causes oil to leak into the pan or gasket. This is when your drain pipe or bend has become blocked, which causes oil to build-up in the gasket.

Synthetic oil can also help engines that are prone to building up sludge; some Volkswagen and Toyota models have had sludge issues in the past. This residue, formed when oil breaks down, can block the flow of oil, leading to the quick death of an engine. Synthetic oil would be beneficial in these engines because it helps to reduce sludge buildup, helping to extend the engines lifespan.
