The Components Of A Gas

How to make a FAST RC CAR from scratch | DIY Remote Controlled Vehicle

The components can be divided into three types. The technical parts secondly the electronic components and thirdly the basic components. Basic components are common in all the kits while technical components and electronic components are found in some specialized kits. You may also buy some additional components as per your choice.

How Does The Remote Control Car Work

Using the combination of different states of the two switches, you can control the direction of motion of your remote control car. If both switches are off, both motors will be off, and the car will not move. If both are on, the car will move straight ahead. And to turn the car, switch on only the motor on the side you want the car to turn to.

Make A Rc Car You Can Control With Any Remote

In this instructables, I’m going to show you how you can make an easy car you can make yourself. The best thing about this car is that, with slight modification, you can control it with almost any remote control you can imagine

For example, you can control it using:

  • An App )
  • A RC remote control
  • A IR remote
  • A car kit, with the motors and the frame
  • A H-bridge to control the motor.
  • A arduino, I’m using a mega here, but you can use any type of arduino
  • Some type of remote control

Choose The Right Motor

Choosing a motor is very important and it totally depends on the type of robot you are making, if you are making a smaller one use 6v Bo motor. If you are making a larger one that needs to carry heavy load then use a 12v dc motor.

Choose the right RPM for motor

I have 12V 300 RPM motor RPM, which stands for revolutions per minute, it is the number of times the shaft of a DC motor completes a full spin cycle per minute. A full spin cycle is when the shaft turns a full 360°. The amount of 360° turns, or revolutions, a motor does in a minute is its RPM value. You should be very careful while choosing the rpm. Dont choose motors of higher rpm cause it will be difficult to control it and remember SPEED IS INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL TO TORQUE DEBUGGING .

In this session, I will be discussing on debugging the circuit. First of all, dont be angry, just keep calm. For debugging we will split the circuit into different parts. First, we will be debugging the L293D IC. Place the IC on a breadboard and give 5v and Gnd to the IC and then give the 12v to pin 8. Connect the enable pins of the motors to 5v. Now give power to the input of one motor and check the output pins with a multimeter. If it shows nothing then there is a problem with your motor driver.

Use Oil Instead Of Grease

Grease is heavy. So if youve been using it for a while, it might solidify, making movement difficult. So, consider switching to other types of car oils. The current market is flooded with various options, including the popular WD-40. You will realize that transmission will be pretty fast and the other engine parts wont clog.

Assemble The Wheel Axels

Follow your guide to assemble the cars wheel axels. The process should look like this:

  • Layout the models wheels and related pieces
  • Fit the gears to the axle as per the guide
  • Attach the wheels
  • Tip: Use a parts tray or trays for this and other procedures. Only place the pieces that youre working with into the containers. Build the car in an assembly line fashion to keep the process straightforward and systematic. Again, avoid the electric screwdriver with tiny models.

How To: 3d Print And Build An F1 Rc Car

If you’re an active member of the 3D printing community, you’ve probably heard of Daniel Norée. If you haven’t heard of him, you may have heard about one of his many Open-Source projects, like the OpenRC F1 Car, the OpenRC drone, the print-in-place adjustable wrench, or everyone’s favorite: Benchy. We are going to 3D print and build the F1 car.

For this particular RC car, I wanted to have a good color scheme, as well as durable parts where it was necessary. All the parts that risk breaking or getting damaged while racing around, like the spoilers and the bottom panels, are printed in Nylon X – our super strong, carbon fiber infused nylon. The rest of the aesthetic parts are printed in MatterHackers PRO Series PLA ).

Daniel Norée is kind enough to have some actual technical diagrams showing how most of the parts go together, so it’s really easy to split this pile of printed part into a logical set of steps. For hardware , there is a kit you can buy that includes all the parts you need to assemble and control the RC car.

Assembling the wheels is a little tricky and runs the risk of snapping the rims as they’re squeezed into place. Be gentle but forceful in getting them to fit. They are directional though, so be sure the “shallower” side of the rims are facing outward – they should be on the same side as the rounder side of the wheel.

The front wheels and their axles are easy to assemble, and are fastened together according to the diagrams supplied.

    Happy Printing!

    What Does Radio Control Mean

Radio control uses radio transmitters to send radio waves to control a model vehicle at far distances with precision and minimal input lag. At one point, RC vehicles used AM and FM radio signals. But today almost all RC transmitters communicate on a 2.4 gHz broadcast signal . Multiple people at a time can run cars using this signal without any conflicts.

    Adjust The Gear Ratio

One of the cheapest and easiest ways to increase the speed of your RC is by adjusting the gear ratio.

There are two gears on your RC, the pinion gear and the spur gear. Both can be upgraded to give your RC either a faster top speed or better acceleration.

    Pinion Gear

This is the gear that is attached directly to your motor. It is usually made from aluminum, steel, or titanium.

They come in many different sizes and pitches and can easily be removed by a hex driver.

In general, the higher the teeth count on your pinion gear, the faster the RC will go.

This does not refer to acceleration, but instead the fastest top speed your RC can reach.

When changing the pinion gear, its important not to increase by too many teeth at once, as this can mess with the temperature of your RC and potentially do some damage.

Instead, increase the size of the pinion by one or two teeth at a time, and periodically check the temperature of your vehicle.

If you want faster acceleration, go for a smaller pinion gear with fewer teeth.

This will help your car accelerate quicker off the road and, another advantage, wont compromise the temperature of your car.

However, the trade-off is youll have a slower top speed although itll take you less time to get there!

A smaller pinion gear is ideal for smaller spaces where you wont have as much time to get up to speed, so need to get there fast!

    Spur Gear

This is the larger plastic gear which the pinion gear turns.

    Make The Power Supply

First, we will start with the power supply circuit. Both RF transmitter and receiver circuit need a separate power supply. The receiver circuit need to powered using 12v supply and transmitter circuit can be powered using 9v battery:

    PIN DESCRIPTION OF 7805 IC

    • Pin 1 Input voltage
    • Pin 2 Ground
    • Pin 3 Regulated Output (4.8v 5.2v]
    • IC 7805 which regulates the 12v supply to 5v
    • 0.1uf & 470uf capacitor
    • And 1k resistor for status led

NOTE: Use heat sink for 7805 because we are dropping 7v so lots of heat will be produced to burn the regulator so use heat sink is recommended

Prepare The Model Car For The Build

Next, remove the undercarriage of the “Hot Wheels” car. You will need to drill out the rivets and remove any screws that may be present. Take your time here and try not to damage the “Hot Wheels” car too much. Be sure to wear gloves too, just in case.

Which Categories Of Rc Cars Are Available

Confused about all the different RC cars out there? RC cars broadly fall into six categories.

    • On-Road Cars

On-road vehicles are best suited for paved, smooth surfaces. These cars often look like full-sized cars. In most cases, they offer the same speed and acceleration as other cars, but theyre easier to drive in a straight line due to their wider stance. Make sure you have plenty of room and flat conditions before pulling the trigger on one.

    • Best suited for paved, smooth surfaces
    • Many look like full-size cars
    • Offer the fastest acceleration and top speeds
    • Not suited for bumps or dips
  • Off-Road Cars

As you may guess, rough-and-tough off-roaders are better suited for surfaces that arent flat or prepared. Off-road vehicles are more appealing to most enthusiasts because they offer greater flexibility. You dont have to find the perfect spot. You can run off-roaders virtually anywhere. They can run on-road as well, so theyre extra versatile. Off-road vehicles are the perfect starting point for beginners because you can take them anywhere and have a blast. As a bonus, they tend to be more durable than on-road cars, allowing for more run time and less downtime.

  • Best suited for surfaces that aren’t flat or prepared
  • Good starting cars for beginners
  • Tend to be more durable than on-road cars
  • Ready to drive out of the box
  • Include all the radio gear and electronics users need
  • Some don’t come with batteries and chargers
  • Best for experienced users
  • Lowest cost cars
  • Lack durability
  • Making Power Supplies For The Remote Control Car

How to Make a Simple Remote Control Car

First, we will start with the power supply circuits. Both the RF transmitter and receiver circuits need separate power supplies. The receiver circuit needs to be powered with a 12V supply and transmitter circuit with a 9V battery. You can see the circuit for the receiver power supply on the right. Using this diagram, wire up the supply circuit. You can also add an LED via a 1K resistor to indicate the state of the power supply.

    • IC 7805 regulates the 12V supply to 5V .
    • You can also use 0.1uF and 470uF capacitors in the circuit and 1K resistor for status LED.

NOTE: Use heat sink for 7805 because we are dropping 7V , so a lot of heat will be produced to burn the regulator.

Working Logic For The Rc Robot Car

Here is a flowchart to help you understand the working logic of the robot car. First we will go over the basic idea of the RC car and the working logic that is involved in the car. There are two blocks, the Transmitter and the Receiver .

On the transmitter side, you have the switches to give the digital inputs to the encoder IC. The encoder then encodes this data and sends it to the the RF Transmitter module.

On the receiver side, you will have the RF Receiver which receives the encoded data and passes it on to the decoder. The decoder decodes the data and sends it to the motor driver IC to drive the motors.

    Making The Rf Transmitter

Now for the transmitter circuit, you will have to bear in mind that this is your remote. So try to make it as handy as possible . Trust me, the last thing you want is a remote that is too big/heavy to carry around. Make a good closure for this circuit.

The HT12E encoder are 12 bit encoders that is they have 8 address bits and 4 data bits. The address bits can be left open or pulled low. In the circuit below, you will see that each of the address pins are connected to a switch. So if the switch is ON then that line is connected to GND otherwise the pin is left floating.

The TE is an active low input to the IC. This enables the transmission. So when the switch connected to pin 14 is pressed, the 8 address bits along with the 4 data bits are serially encoded and sent out at the DOUT pin.

For our application we will connect TE directly to GND as we have to keep sending the data as and when they arrive to the rc car.

Unlike the receiver circuit, this does not need to have a beefy battery. You could power this circuit with a 9V battery.
