The serial number will give you all the Club Car golf cart model identification information you need. Each model displays the serial number in a different placebecause you dont know yet which model you have, try checking inside or under the passenger side glove compartment. Pre-1981: Serial numbers on Club Car golf carts manufactured before 1981 will be located by raising the seat and locating the aluminum I-Beam frame section closest to the batteries on the driver’s side of the cart*.
*If unable to find a serial number plate it can be confirmed to be manufactured between 1975-1980 model if it has two brake pedals and a single accelerator pedal.
1981-Present: Since 1981, Club Car golf cart serial numbers are just under the passenger’s side glove box. Serial numbers are printed on barcode decals. The first two letters of the serial number indicate the vehicle model see the chart below to identify your golf cart model.

What Is The Difference Between Precedent And Ds Models
The Club Car Precedent series first began being manufactured in 2004 while the DS first began being manufactured in 1982. You can still find OEM parts for DS models, but because a DS cart is older, it may lack some of the advanced features youd find on a Precedent cart. Both carts are available in electric and gasoline, but the Precedent gas carts feature greater horsepower than the DS gas carts. This is particularly useful for navigating steep hills, which may or may not be valuable, depending on where you plan to use your cart.
