What To Do If You Are In A Rental Car Accident
If have a rental car accident, take the same steps you would take in any other car accident:
You must also inform the rental company that an accident took place in their car. There should be emergency number in an easy-to-access place in the car, or on your rental paperwork. Call the number, tell the representative what happened, and ask them what you should do next.
Once you have left the scene of the accident, you will need to contact the insurance company to inform them that an accident occurred. Since you are driving a rental car, this will be the insurance company which covered your rental, whether it be your regular insurance, credit card, or the rental companys insurance.
If you were at fault, the burden to pay for the damages will rest on you and the insurance coverage you have another good reason to select your coverage carefully, and make sure you have liability included.
If the other driver was at fault, the matter will be treated like any other accident, and their insurance will pay for the damages. Typically, in these cases, the rental company will deal with the other partys insurance. In some cases, however, they may charge you directly, which will transfer the burden of dealing with the other partys insurance onto you. In these cases, its good to have a lawyer to help you through the process.

Should You Buy A Rental Car From Enterprise
When you buy a used rental car from Enterprise you can get a below-market price on a nearly-new car. Not only can you find a bargain, but youll likely find a vehicle thats been well-maintained.
Still, Enterprise rental cars are fleet vehicles, which means they were previously owned by a business and driven by an unknown number of drivers. When a rental fleet car is deemed too old for business purposes, companies like Enterprise list their used rental cars for sale. For most car rental companies, this begins to happen once the vehicle is one-to-two years old.

How Much Does Enterprise Hold As A Security Deposit
The total security deposit will depend on several factors, including the vehicle type and pickup location. The company will require a larger deposit for a luxury vehicle, and it can also matter where you pick up the car.
If youre renting a car at an airport, Enterprise will typically authorize a hold for 120 percent of the rental. That breaks down to the cost of the rental plus a 20-percent security deposit for incidentals.
For an economy car at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, our test price was $216 with a deposit of $44, or 20 percent. In this case, Enterprise would hold $260 on the renters card.
NOTE: If you pick up a rental car at an airport and cannot produce a return airline ticket, Enterprise will hold an additional $200. Your credit card would be charged 120% of the rental charge plus $200. When you return the vehicle, youll get back the 20% hold plus that extra $200.
Renting in a city can also mean a bigger hold. When we priced out renting an economy car in downtown Boston, the rental cost came to about $300 with a $250 deposit. In this case, the total hold would be $550.

What Documents Do I Need To Rent A Car
To rent a car, you need the following:
- A valid drivers license
- A valid form of identification
- A credit card .
Please note that it is necessary for all three documents to be under the same name and to physically bring all three documents with you due to safety reasons, a copy or screenshot is not sufficient. Additionally, the reason a credit card is needed is due to the deposit. We wish to simply block a deposit on your card, so it can be released right away upon return of the car in good condition with a debit card, the sum of the deposit would have to be taken from the account right away. Furthermore, if you are renting a car from the Luxury car category, two creditcards have to be brought in, both in the main drivers name. This is only applicable to the Luxury car category.Prefer to get above information via video? Check out our video on what documents you need to rent a car below!

Make Sure Your Coverage Is Right For You
Be sure to investigate your auto insurance and credit card coverage before you decide whether to purchase insurance from Enterprise or other rental car companies. Be particularly careful to ensure you have liability coverage, because this is the kind of insurance your policies are most likely to leave uncovered.
If rental vehicles are not covered by your personal insurance or credit card, the rental companys insurance is often the best option. It may also be necessary for those renting large trucks or other vehicles not typically covered by other policies.
Also, if you have a higher deductible than the rental company is offering, you may find it prudent to buy their insurance even if your personal or credit card insurance does cover rentals.
There are many factors to consider, and the answer depends on your situation, and how much risk you are willing to assume.

How Much Does Enterprise Hold On Your Card
Last Updated on August 14, 2022 by Kristin
Like all car rental companies, Enterprise will put a hold on your credit card or debit card when you rent a car. The hold is equal to the rental rate plus a security deposit. The company holds this sum to guard against scenarios like an accident, late return or additional fuel charge.
Always ask how much will be held on your card and when you can expect your deposit back. It usually depends on the type of car your rent, where you pick up the car, and how you pay.
Customers can find this information in the fine print of the renter requirements tab during the check-out process.
How Many Enterprise Points Do I Need For A Free Rental
Free rental redemptions start at 600 points. But redemption prices are dynamic, so the actual number of points required will vary based on your rental details. You must be signed in to determine how many points a reward requires, but points are generally worth about 5 cents apiece.
While there are no blackout dates, there are some restrictions to be aware of. Most of them overlap with the qualifying rental restrictions. One important restriction to realize is that you cannot redeem points for one-way rentals outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Pros And Cons Of Buying A Rental Car From Enterprise
Below-market prices. Enterprise says it lists 75% of its vehicles for less than the typical Kelley Blue Book value. This is the biggest advantage to buying a used rental vehicle.
Vehicles are nearly-new. Though Enterprise sells vehicles up to 8 years old, the average Enterprise car spends one year in rental service.
Well-maintained and serviced. Enterprise follows manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules and performs regular inspections. A private seller may not have performed that level of maintenance.
No-haggle pricing. This eliminates one of the most stressful steps in the car-buying process, but you might be able to negotiate a lower price elsewhere, either at a dealership or with a private seller.
Roadside assistance. Purchases are covered for 12 months of roadside assistance with unlimited mileage.
Warranty. Because most cars are a recent-model year, the car you purchase may still be under the manufacturers warranty. In addition, Enterprise includes a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty that begins on the date of purchase.
7-day return policy. You can sell your vehicle back to Enterprise within seven days, with up to 1,000 miles. Youll receive the exact price you paid, minus a $200 restocking fee.
High mileage. The car you buy could have twice the average mileage of a nonrental and could be near the end of the manufacturers warranty, which means you may have to do more maintenance, over time, as the owner.
