Im crossing my fingers.

The CCXR uses the same 4.7-liter twin-turbo V-8 mill as the CCX, but the Swedish company modded the power plant to run on E85 race gas, which shot the power from 795 hp up into the four-figure range1,004 hp to be exact. Given the CCXRs upgraded aerodynamics package and engine, it would be interesting to see how it performs in a proper top-speed run thats in a straight line and not on a circular track .

Present Koenigsegg Regera: 251 Mph

Output: 1,500 hpAlthough it made its debut back in 2015, the Regera is still technically in production, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t include Koenigsegg’s first hybrid on this shakedown. Koenigsegg’s traditional twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8 pairs with three electric motors for a combined 1,500 hp in the Regera, leading to some truly spectacular performance. Forget the 2.8-second 0-62-mph runit takes just 23 seconds to hit 249 mph on its way to a 251-mph top speed. Eighty lucky buyers fronted around $1.9 million each to buy out the Regera’s limited production shortly after the car’s introduction in 2016.

  • Volkswagen Id R: Nurburgring Record Holder

The NIO EP9 didn’t hold the electric lap record at the Nurburgring for long: the Volkswagen ID. R electric racer lowered the benchmark to just over six minutes and five seconds in June 2019. Other records set by the car include the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb and the ascent of the Tianmen Shan Big Gate Road in China. The ID.R was initially built to win the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and it did so in some style. Its time of 7m57.148s along the 12.24-mile course smashed the existing record by 16.73 seconds, becoming the first vehicle to dip under the eight-minute mark. Read the latest Volkswagen ID. The successor to the game-changing Zonda, the Huayra comes from Italian speed master Horacio Pagani and is named after Huayra-tata, a Quechua wind god. Fitting, considering the 720 hp coming from a twin-turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V-12. A seven-speed single-clutch gearbox puts down the power while delivering chunky, whiplash-inducing shifts, allowing you to scream from zero to 60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds.

    Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

7 Fastest Cars in the World: Supercars Top Speed (2021 ...

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a Hellcat by any other name. Featuring a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 shared with SRT-branded Dodge sedans, coupes, and SUVs, the Trackhawk produces a stout 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet . Like the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, the Jeep features a 0-60 sprint of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 miles per hour, making it a rather remarkable performance bargain at $87,670.

The Grand Cherokee is getting long in the tooth so is the Durango, for that matter so its still-luxurious interior is showing its age a bit. Still, Brembo brakes, a responsive all-wheel-drive system, and stiff chassis make sure the Trackhawk can run with the best of em.

The Quickest Cars Of The Decade

The quickest car on this list is a plug-in hybrid with nearly 1000 horsepower.

First, let’s make something clear: Quickest refers to acceleration, and fastest refers to top speed. And, good lord, has it been a nice decade for Car and Driver‘sacceleration testing. We recorded the fastest zero-to-60-mph production-car time in Car and Driver history. We rocketed a $243,000 SUV to 60 mph in almost 3 seconds flat. And, to align with the industry standard, we shifted our acceleration testing to include a one-foot rollout.

To celebrate a decade well spent, we’ve compiled a list of the quickest cars we tested from 2010 to 2020.

Meet the Ram 1500 TRX, a 702-hp supercharged half-ton pickup with more giddy-up than anything else at the rodeo. It’s quicker than a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, a Porsche Macan Turbo, and it’s only 0.4 second slower than the Lamborghini Urus. Naturally, the quickest pickup we’ve ever tested is also at the top of the trucks with the worst fuel economy list.

The Lamborghini Urus is the quickest factory-stock SUV we’ve tested. The decade saw an impressive development of super-car-contending, high-performance sport utility vehicles. The Urus is the quickest, for now, blasting to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Man, this big bull is quick.

    • Tested date: October 2019
    • Price as tested: $88,310
    • Engine: 495-hp 6.2-liter V-8, eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission
    • Weight: 3647 lb

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+: 304 Mph

Bugatti has been a storied name in luxury hypercars for years, naturally. The intensely upgraded quad-turbocharged W16 that powers the Chiron upgraded the speed of this iconic speed added some brawn to the beauty with the result that, now, Bugatti has not one but two places in our ranking of the fastest cars of 2021.

While it may no longer be the absolute fastest car out there , Bugattis Chiron Super Sport 300+ has a claim to fame that will be chronicled in history books and awed conversations for years to come: It was the very first car to cross the then-unheard-of barrier of 300 mph .

It still represents a flawless balance between form and function, aerodynamics and aesthetics. With an acceleration from 0-100 kilometres per hour in 2.4 seconds, this Bugatti certainly has speed and style, all at the same time.

Verified Speeds: Top 10 Fastest Cars In 2020/2021

Anyone can make a fast car nowadays, but very few top speeds have been verified in the last 3 decades. We now have very quick electric cars on the market, and the battle for top speed records is only just beginning. But there is always one major challenge when it comes to claiming a top speed record, and that is the testing ground. There are only a few locations on earth that present the perfect conditions for a top speed run.

The vehicles on this list all have verified top speed runs. I know the title says cars but we decided to throw in the fastest bike in the world as well. The List will be updated when a new verified speed record is broken. Enjoy!

Based on the 266-mph performance of the Lotus-ish first-gen Venom, we wouldn’t be unduly surprised to see it claim the world record. Tesla Model S Plaid: 0

8 Fastest Cars In The World

The fastest electric saloon car here is the one that started it all: the Tesla Model S. The recently unveiled Model S Plaid is the quickest version of the car yet. It has three electric motors, produces 1,009bhp and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 1.99 seconds.

Priced at just under £120,000, the Model S Plaid will arrive in the UK towards the end of 2022, as will the updated version of the Tesla Model X SUV, which will also be available in Plaid form. What Will Be Next To Go Quickest The Contenders

Lotus Evija – under three seconds

The most powerful production car in the world? Lotus is talking a big game with its Evija hypercar, an EV that is set to arrive with 1973bhp sent to all four wheels and a top speed of over 200mph. The company is keeping mum on exact specifications for now, but that hasnt stopped an entire years worth of allocation from being sold already, at more than £2 million each.

Pininfarina Battista – under two seconds

With a powertrain sourced from Rimac, it stands to reason that Pininfarinas luxury EV should come close to matching the C_Two on performance terms. It will use four motors to deliver up to 1900bhp and 1696lb ft of torque, but the company is only saying its sprint time will be under two seconds. Specifics will have to wait until the first customer cars arrive and someone puts it against the clock.

Croatian EV pioneer Rimac already proved it could make an impressive EV with its Concept_One, but the C_Two promises to be even faster. 1900bhp from four motors, a top speed of 256mph and narrowly dipping under two seconds in the 60mph sprint, it should be a true demonstration of just what can be achieved with EV car design.

    Present Ssc Tuatara: 282

    Output: 1,750 hp

Despite volumes of controversy surrounding SSC North America’s recent top speed debacle, the new $1.9 million SSC Tuatara hypercar legitimately claimed the title as the fastest car in the world in early 2021 with a verified two-way average speed of 282.9 mph in Florida. A staggering speed, but a longshot from the Tuatara’s alleged one-way top speed run of an astounding 331.15 mph through the Nevada desert. With absurdly slippery aero and a twin-turbo 5.9-liter V-8 pushing out up to 1,750 hp, SSC promises a future verified run that will break the 300-mph mark.
